I graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations in 2008. One month later, I moved to Chicago to work as a publicist for Holabird & Root, where I quickly learned I wasn’t quite cut out for the colder temperatures or an architecture firm. I moved to Nashville in 2009 where I interned for an advertising agency as their in-house publicist, which helped me realize that I wanted to be apart of more meaningful work. I was tired of pushing papers and yearned for a way to contribute to the world in a lasting way.
In 2010 I began pursing a Masters in Education from David Lipscomb University and taught eighth grade English in Metro Nashville Public Schools. I learned so much about myself, the education system, and the importance of good literature in my two years as a teacher.
After obtaining my Masters in Education and being intrigued by an open publicist position at one of my favorite publishing houses, I jumped into the publishing world headfirst at HarperCollins Publishers in 2012. I single-handedly led publicity efforts for both the Gift and Children’s Book Divisions, where I launched bestselling books for media personalities, top music artists, ministry leaders, reality television personalities, pastors, inspiring mamas and new authors.
Three years later, I met my husband and moved to be with him after our wedding, so thankfully ICON called and asked if I would be interested in joining their team as a book publicist. A complete God moment, I happily joined the team at ICON Media Group, a full-service media and marketing firm serving the faith and family space. As publicity director, I led publicity campaigns for major publishing clients, launching several New York Times bestsellers, and assisting with some film and non-profit work. I am so thankful for my five-year tenure at ICON, where I honed my skills as a PR professional working with some of the best in the business on some world-changing projects.
During the summer of 2019, I began to feel the pull to embark on a new adventure with Katie Bell Communications, recognizing a need in the industry for a seasoned publicity partner to offer more attention to each campaign to deliver outstanding results. I’m thrilled to bring my unique expertise and passion for helping people tell their story to this new endeavor.
I’m a Jesus-follower, wife to my dreamy ministry and clinical mental health therapist husband, Taylor, and mama to my two darlings, Annie (3 years) and Ollie (1 year). When I’m not busy working, you can find me watching Frozen for the zillionth time with the babes (ah, motherhood), whipping up something delicious in our Tennessee kitchen, or sneaking away for a date night with my husband.
I am an avid reader and joke writing is my therapy, either in my journal, on my personal blog or for some of my favorite media outlets. My work has been featured in countless print and online outlets including Fox News, TODAY Parents, Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine, Scary Mommy, Charisma, HelloGiggles, For Every Mom and more.
